Do desert safaris run during Ramadan in Dubai?

Why we ask you to check rather than just book
Ramadan dates move each year, and what operates during it can vary between the start, the middle and the final days. Rather than publish a schedule that may be wrong for your date, we would rather you message us and get a straight answer.
That is not us being vague. It is that a page written in advance cannot tell you what the camp programme looks like on a specific evening in a specific year, and guessing would be worse than asking.
What generally changes
Timings. Evening tours are built around sunset in normal months. During Ramadan they are built around iftar, which shifts collection and return times.
Entertainment. Live shows including Tanoura, fire and dance performances may be reduced or not run at all, depending on the period.
Food service. The BBQ buffet is arranged around iftar timing rather than served on the usual schedule.
Camp atmosphere. Quieter and more subdued than the usual evening programme. Many guests prefer it. Some are expecting the full show and are disappointed, which is why we would rather set expectations before you book.
What does not change
The desert part. Dune bashing at Al Awir, the sunset photography stop, camel riding and sandboarding all run as normal, with the same licensed drivers and the same vehicles.
Hotel pickup is still included across Dubai, Sharjah and Ajman at no extra cost, and age rules are unchanged: dune bashing recommended from age 7 upward.
Eating and drinking during the day
During Ramadan, eating, drinking and smoking in public during daylight hours is not permitted for anyone, visitors included. That matters for a safari because of the transfer.
On the morning safari, which collects between 7:00 and 8:00 AM, plan accordingly. Water is still provided but consume it discreetly and follow the driver’s guidance.
Once you are at the camp in the evening, normal service applies around iftar.
Which tour suits Ramadan
The morning safari is the simplest option. It runs before the iftar schedule affects anything, finishes between 11:00 AM and midday, and the desert element is unchanged.
The evening safari works well if you want the iftar experience at the camp, which many guests specifically seek out. Expect a different evening from the usual programme, not a lesser one.
A private safari at AED 500 per car gives you flexibility on timing, which is worth more during Ramadan than at any other time of year.
Etiquette worth knowing
- Dress modestly. Appreciated year round, more so during Ramadan.
- Do not eat or drink in front of others during daylight, including in the vehicle.
- Ask before photographing people, particularly during prayer or iftar.
- Be patient with timings. Everything in Dubai runs to a different rhythm during Ramadan.
None of this is difficult and none of it will be enforced aggressively. Dubai is used to visitors during Ramadan and people are generally relaxed about honest mistakes.
Eid
Eid at the end of Ramadan is a peak period. Tours run a full programme again and demand is high, so book ahead. Rates are subject to availability and can vary around public holidays, and we confirm your total before you pay.
