Can you collect from Downtown Dubai for a desert safari?
Yes. Pickup from Downtown Dubai, Burj Khalifa, Business Bay and the surrounding towers is included free on every desert safari we run, and Downtown is well placed for it. Our camp is in the Al Awir desert immediately east of the city, so you are on the correct side of Dubai for a short transfer.
The short version. Free collection from Downtown and Business Bay. Evening safaris leave around 2:00 PM and return around 9:30 PM, which fits comfortably around a Burj Khalifa or Dubai Mall day. From AED 80 per person, or AED 500 for a private car.
Why Downtown works well for a safari
Downtown sits along Sheikh Zayed Road with direct access east towards Al Awir. That puts it in the same favourable group as Deira and Bur Dubai, and ahead of the Marina and Palm Jumeirah, which are at the opposite end of the city.
The practical result is that an evening safari from Downtown returns at a sensible hour rather than close to midnight, which matters if you have an early start, a dinner reservation later in the week, or children with you.
Fitting a safari around Downtown
Most guests staying in Downtown are here for a short, dense trip, and the desert has to slot around the landmarks rather than replace them.
The evening safari leaves the entire morning and early afternoon free. A common pattern is At The Top at the Burj Khalifa in the morning, Dubai Mall and the aquarium afterwards, lunch, then collection at around 2:00 PM. You are back by around 9:30 PM, in time to see the Dubai Fountain in the evening if you have not already.
If your schedule is tighter, the morning safari collects between 7:00 and 8:00 AM and returns between 11:00 AM and midday, leaving the whole afternoon and evening for Downtown itself.
Pickup times from Downtown and Business Bay
- Morning safari. Collected 7:00 to 8:00 AM, back 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM.
- Evening and VIP safari. Collected around 2:00 PM, back around 9:30 PM.
- Overnight safari. Collected around 2:00 PM, back the following morning around 8:00 AM.
Exact time depends on your building and on Sheikh Zayed Road traffic, so we confirm the day before. Many Downtown towers restrict vehicle access at the entrance, so we usually agree a specific hotel lobby or drop-off bay with you rather than working it out on the day.
Which safari suits Downtown guests
Downtown draws business travellers, couples and short-stay visitors, and the pattern we see is a preference for comfort and predictability over saving twenty dirhams.
The VIP evening safari at AED 120 is the most common booking from this area. Same route, same dune session, same activities as the standard tour, with reserved seating in a dedicated part of the camp and shorter waits for the buffet and the shows.
The standard evening safari at AED 80 gives you the same desert and the same programme for less, in general camp seating.
The private safari at AED 500 per car suits couples wanting flexibility and any group of four or more, where the per person cost drops below the seat price.

Common questions
Is Downtown pickup free? Yes, and Business Bay, DIFC and the surrounding areas on the same terms.
Will we be back for the fountain show? The evening safari returns around 9:30 PM, and the fountain runs into the evening, so usually yes. We cannot promise a specific minute because return time depends on traffic.
Can we do Burj Khalifa and the safari on the same day? Yes. Book At The Top for the morning and take the afternoon pickup for the evening safari.
How long is the drive? Shorter than from the Marina, since Downtown is on the eastern side of the city relative to Al Awir. Exact time depends on traffic.
Is there a dress code at the camp? Loose, comfortable clothing. Modest dress is appreciated. Flat shoes rather than heels, since the camp is on sand.
